Patching a canvas wall tent?
A grizzly added a door, a window and a sky-light to a wall tent I now own. (No blood was spilt) I can bring the canvas back close together with some stiching but then it will need some patching to be waterproof. What do I use to patch a canvas wall tent?
Is there an iron on type patch or is glue on best? What kind of glue? Need I put patch on both sides or just outside? Robin. |
RE: Patching a canvas wall tent?
There are some iron on type patches, But with that much damage I would recomend calling it a trophy and getting another. If you can, first stitch it, then do the iron on. And it wouldn't hurt to put a small layer of sylicone over it to insure it stays put and doesn't leak.

It needs to be repaired by the manufacturer or local tent/awning company that knows what they are doing if you wish to have anything resembling what you once had.

I think EKM has the best Idea. I have repaired boat covers using denium and Tear Mender. It holds well and boat covers take a beating. It depends on what you think you can afford to put into it as opposed to replacing it. If the rest of the tent is good, a proffessional repair would make sense.
