RE: Would you take this bear, let him grow
he should weigh in just less then 200 pounds i would guess. nice coat on him and i would take him, however i don't hunt a baited area and seeing 1 bear in a season is pretty darn good however sence you hunt a baited area you may see many more bears. if you want him for the coat take him. if you want a big bear let him go and look for another.

Just looked at the footage--nice camera work but the ears suggest a smaller bear--definitely under 200 lbs. It does have good hide though.

RE: Would you take this bear, let him grow
First of all, either way don't apologize for whatever you decide. He would make a nice first bear, no doubt, even though those ears suggest that he is indeed 200 lbs. or less. He looks just like my first bear, which made a great rug, and I am proud of it. We all want 300+ size bears every year, but of course that is unrealistic to expect. Personally, I like the meat a lot. I was running out of hunting days, so I ended up this year taking an average size bear in the end. I certainly am not bummed!
