Well I got back from AK this a.m. Had a great hunt and hope to be able to aford to do it again someday. I dropped my bull on the 2nd morning of my hunt. It was a bit over a mile from camp. My buddy, the guide, and I packed it back to camp. It took us a total of 9 packs to finish the job. Ended up with 638# of meat at the locker, and of course we ate both tenderloins and a back strap at camp. The rack measures 65.5" wide with 4 brow points on one side and 6 on the other. Thankfully the walking wasn't bad for packin' meat. We had the job done by 7:30 the same day that I shot it. I packed the antlers, and it felt good to do it!!:)

It gives me a great since of accomplishment after packing this critter out, and having packed out many elk in the past helped me to prepare for this task.

Thanks guys. This bull far exceded my hopes and dreams. I had told the guide that all I really wanted was a bull that was legal, which in this area would require a 50" spread or 3 brow tines. So, it is an under statement to say I was pleased with the lack of ground shrinkage!!
bob d, if you're like me financially, start saving your pennys. I saved for 7 years for this trip, so it will be awhile before I get to do another like it.
JD338, I used my 300 Win. mag. with Fed. Premium 180 gr. nosler partitions. I recoved both bullets under the far skin! The shot was about 175 yards.
