RE: Elk Ivory

Wow! Does anyone have any pics of finished jewelry? I make jewelry and would like to see it. If anyone has some ivory and would like to have something made or maybe sell it, email me. [email protected] Maybe we can work something out.

RE: Elk Ivory

Have about 20 or so sets laying about, if you have a use for them.
We used to be able to sell them to Asia (Hong Kong) but no longer a market there. Got around $20 a set, which helped with buying ammo for hunting.
For me to send you some will probably require a C.I.T.E.s certificate.
Bull are bigger than cows. Asian's value them by the degree of staining. More staining being more valuable.
I had some carved and made into earings.
Gave them to an old girlfriend. (that's history.)

I think ivory size must be genetic i certain areas. Out here in montana where i hunt, they are easy to tell apart. Bull ivory is at least twice the size of the cow ivory. My sister killed a bull last year that was 9 years old and the ivory was so worn that the main bulbous part was completely worn off, but the root was still twice as wide as cow ivory. I can vouch for elk in other regions though. I really think it must be a genetic mutation from region to region on how big the ivories grow.
