What color do eyes reflect?
 

Does anyone know where I can find information about what color which animals eyes reflect when a light hits them (deer, mountain lion, coyote, etc).

Deer, racoons, skunks, dogs all reflect green.
It has to do with their eye genetics, what kind of pupil they have.
Coyotes glow red or bright white, like 2 little light bulbs walking around in the woods when you flash them.

I used to run hounds and have shined a tree or two.I have noticed coons eyes glow a dull yellow and fox eyes reflect blue.I shined a tree one night and thought I had a fox treed and it was my dogs eyes shinning back blue also he had 3 coon treed and was going up after them.I called in a mountain lion one night and it had yellowish green eyes and a bear had a red glow to his.

My experience has been that canines shine red/white; cats white/yellow/or green; and deer,cows,elk,horses(herbavors) shine white/blue. Buuutttt... science would say that the angle that the light strikes the lense would cause different colors to reflect. But maybe certain animals eyes absorb certain colors thereby only allowing the others to reflect???
