two headed moose in alaska

in the paper today. a hunter shooting a cow moose for a potluck at some dudes funeral found a two headed unborn fetus as he feild dressed the cow. it appeared to be a healthy fetus. WOW could you imagine if it lived and was a bull. too bad well never know. they say it was shot less then 5 miles from some us special radar test site. hhmmmmm

That would truly be something to see in the wild. It's too bad. Maybe that radar site will spur somethin real weird in the future.

Sounds fishy to me. The radar test sight might have been the one just north of Fairbanks, but I haven't heard anything about it.
Do you have a link to your local newspaper? I'd like to read the article.

Potlach not potluck LOL!

its a native/eskimo ceremony. I just heard about it last spring when I saw a guy shoot a cow for a potlatch. Its not only for funerals however as they did one here recently in one of the villages that caught the local news stations attn. Cant say I know a hole lot about them, figured ABM would....I'll try and learn more about them once my partner gets back being his family is villagers, he would know the ins and outs to one.

LOL, Lil got it right.

AK will probably see a change in the law in the near future. Potlaches are also used by some as a loop hole to kill a moose whenever they please. ABM, Lil, did you know you don't have to be native to do this. That's right, as the law stands right now, you and I could inform F&G that we were going to do a potlach and go out and take a moose. BTW, it doesn't have to be a moose either.

Nope, don't know anything about killing animals for potlatch. I've always stuck to seasons and bag limits, and I'm not an eskimo or native expert by any means.

Guess I stand corrected though on the truthfullness of this fetus. It was shot about 5 miles from Clear AFS

Thanks for the pic AB...They look like newborn lab puppies.

Too bad they didn't make it. That would have been a sight to behold.
