264 Winchester Magnum
Need some Info on anybody who custom handloades for this caliber. I shot up all the ammo that came with gun. I dont want to use factory if I dont have to The Rounds I had were 135gr hawk bullets they sure work good.I looked on the net but never found anybody and very little info on this caliber. I've used it on Elk Mule Deer and antelope shoots real nice. Recoil is nothing but it sure does make a lot of noise.

RE: 264 Winchester Magnum
I used to handload 100 and 140 grain bullets with the aid of a speer reloading manual. The 100s would explode on a deer or antelope and kill it real quick. I liked the way the 140s held together and killed everything better. Then I lost intrest in handloading and have just bought factory 140s (Winchester or Remington) for my .264 since. I've used it on elk, moose, whitetails(one B&C buck), mule deer, pronghorn, bighorned sheep, black bear, coyotes and even knocked off a few grouse heads with it.

RE: 264 Winchester Magnum
SALATHEEL,
I had and loaded for a .264 WM years ago. I liked it, but shot out the bore in a little over 1200 rounds. I think that was the first .264 in NM. The barrel was 26" stainless steel. I've played with various .264/6.5 ovet the years and have found the 125 grain Nosler Partition bullet to be the most useful, but I never hunted elk with it. If I were starting new on one today I think the place I'd start is with H-1000 powder, Federal 215 Match primers, Winchester cases and the Nosler bullet I mentioned. In my opinion, the .264 is the only big game cartridge I know of tha a 12 power scope is a practical scope maximum. I hope that this is of some help and good luck.
