Talk about tough
Pound for pound what is the toughest animal to put down?
|
RE: Talk about tough
My vote would be the Cape Buffalo

RE: Talk about tough
Red squirrel. A .22LR on a red would be like a Scud missile on a cape buffalo. Those little suckers can take a hit.

RE: Talk about tough
For north american game my experiences make me say mountain goat grizzly and elk.

RE: Talk about tough
As BarnesX.308 put it, pound for pound the toughest animal that I have taken has to have been an elk!
|
RE: Talk about tough
Yes elk are tough Tikka but mountain goats can take a hit .

RE: Talk about tough
For the people that I have talked to, the mountain goats around here some how seem to make it to the tallest cliff around before they die, and then flip you off as they go over! I would have to say mountain goat!

RE: Talk about tough
I agree that the fox squirrel, aka "red squirrel" is the toughest, I shot one through the belly, nearly blowing it in half, with my .30-06 once, and it continued to run through the trees for about a hundred yards before finally falling to the ground and whooping my uncle's jack russel terrier.
As far as what I've heard about large game, however, I'd vote either cape buffalo, or a charging kodiak. |
RE: Talk about tough
Everything I've read or heard and seen with Peter Capstick's African hunting videos, is claimed to be the cape buffalo like everyone else mentioned here.
Also another "animal" on earth that's just as hard to put down is a human coming off of a meth binge or on PCP. Some humans can take multiple rounds and hits even in fatal areas and still be able to kill their opponents within a 30 second time frame before actually dying themselves. -Just a little trivia there. RE: Talk about tough
For my 2 cents it would go: Adrenalin charged Brownie, Mt. Goat, Moose.
