Use both. get in the trees and use an estrus cow call w/ a bull squeal, the big guy will think a rag horn is gettin some and come try to knock him off her.

Let the guides do the work that is what they are getting paid for.Watch and listen.Ask your guide if he minds if you call.If not I would use a puny sounding bugle to locate.Get as close as I can and then cow call.I use a Hoochie Mama cow call by primos and a mouth diaphram when they get close but don't over call.

elknut1 has a web site that can answer your qustions about calling he has some GREAT
elk calling videos plus some calls. If you haven't checked it out yet you really should.
