Melee Weapons

I'm real new to the whole hunting scene, and i think its great. Let me just get right in to the question: Would it be legally possible to hunt a bear, in the united states, with a spear or another melee weapon?

thanks!

you have far greater cajones than i my friend. personally if i was going bear hunting i would want the bigest loudest rifle that i could shoot accurately. and you want to hunt one with a six foot stick with a blade on the end! i don't think you could get a guide to take you on such a hunt. i could be wrong though.

I don't think the legality is the issue... moreover the issue is the question of why you would want to put your life in danger like that? Chances are... unless you have a strong arm and a gift for making a projectile hit its target that you might not come back from a bear hunt like that.
Not nocking you down. I'm just saying you might want to consider that long and hard before acting on it.

Personally ,
I won't hunt any animal that considers me a food group ... ;) :D

Hogs are often hunted with spears. Trained dogs chase/corner the hog. A cur or pit bull takes it down, usually by the ear. Then it is speared. Doing something like that with a bear seems risky to the dogs and the man with the spear.
