35 Remington and elk?

How well does the 35 Remington perform on elk? What kind of range does it give hunters?

I would limit it to about 150 yards max . Its just not a long range gun in my opinion and doesn't have the energy I would like for an elk cartridge.

Halcon is right, and 150 is kind of pushing the limits. It's similar to a 30-30.

THS78,
I agree with both HALCON and PRO-LINE. To say that the .35 Rem. won't kill an elk would be false, but I wouldn't use it. I'm not sure that you would get the penatration needed, even at 50 yards. Bullets available for the .35 are pretty fragile for elk. I dislike agreeing with Boddington, but he called it pretty close when he said the .30-06 with a 180 grain bullet was his personal minimum for elk. I hope that this helps. Sorry to be such a spoil sport.
