topo map help

i am going to be getting a map or two from mytopo.com and was wondering if there are any reasons to go with the 1:24,000 scale over the 1:15,000? i can get the whole area i want on the 1:15,000, but i heard that the 1:24,000 is more gps friendly. is this true and if so how? also is there any other tips you can give me about topo maps? oh yea this is for the black hills in wyoming if that helps. thanks a lot

RE: topo map help

My opinion is that the bigger the scale the better. i.e. 1:15,000 is going to be superior to 1:24,000.
Can't see how a bigger scale could be less friendly to GPS, so long as Eastings & Northing gridlines are clearly marked and identified.

I'd definitely run with the 1:15,000 so long as you can cover the entire area of interest on one sheet.

RE: topo map help

The standard size for topos is going to be the 1:24000 I have never looked at the 1:15000 so I can't really comment on them, but I know the 1:24000 are close enough and easy enough to read for most hunting situations that I have encountered. Just my 2 cents
