My FIL lives outside of Morrilton. He has a couple hundred acres, but I tell you...I have seen very little deer there. I know of some other folks who have land out that way too that is good for hunting, but they would hardly let me hunt it, let alone some stranger. I used to go down to the Ouachita and hunt whitetails. Lots of public land and not as many people standing on each other's toes. I do have a friend down there still who is part of a club that has a lease, but it is a matter of getting in touch with him and finding out if he can help you out...if your interested.

STEALTHYCAT,
That is one very nice bull. Kind'a gives a whole new meaning to the old phrase "fun stops when you pull the trigger" I'll bet. I have a question for you, how long did it take for your blood pressure to return to normal? CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

Lilhunter - Yeah, its a little antelope though. I bowhunted the darn things for two years before finally taking a rifle up and tagging out (1 doe, 1 buck). Absolutely delicious animals to eat.
BigBob - I killed this bull around 1 pm, and I was probably 2 hours hard hike from camp. I got to work and had that bull all deboned and airing out and back to camp right at dark. Thing was, I was partially dehydrated, exhausted from the hunt and hike and had food poisoning (canned salmon for lunch before killing the bull) and I suffered for the next 3 days because of it. Absolutely miserable. Betweem being sick, having my left knee stiffen up so badly at night that I couldn't even bend it in the morning, and hiking 1/2 day in and 1/2 day out for meat, it about killed me. I remember it as my toughest hunt ever, I don't know how it could have been much worse. Oh yeah, and the night that I killed my bull, it snowed like 8-10 inches, collapsed our little tent - man looking back, we had ALL the cards stacked against us !!

I guided elk hunts for several years seen over 50 bulls killed on public land , you have done something to be proud of.
You may want to find a local with a horse to pack youre next one out $50 - $100 , cheap enough.
