RE: elk and mulie sheds
gregwth7mmmag,
I do believe that elk will shed their antlers like in may or around then depending on where you live. And the deer usually should have shed by now in most places. |
RE: elk and mulie sheds
Elk Freak is right on. The deer sheds are alreday being found. The smaller bucks might still have a few on yet but very close to dropping. I have seen many bulls at the beginning of turkey season still packing their horns around. They start losing them at the end of april, By the middle of May I have started seing bulls with velvet nubbins.

RE: elk and mulie sheds
well i have been finding whitetail sheds for a month now but the elk here probably won't drop their antlers till march-april sometime. I find elk really amazing because they shed their antlers so late but by archery elk season in august the big bulls are already all shined up. Just awesome how fast those big racks can grow...

The mulies haven't started yet in Utah. And the elk are a long ways away...

RE: elk and mulie sheds
Mulies still have their antlers here too. Just went up and took a doe Saturday and there was a nice 5X5 was with the heard. Too bad I didn't have a buck tag.
Elk will shed sometime in April and begin growing immediately. |
RE: elk and mulie sheds
Bigbulls, did you move again, or just re-adjust your hometown?

RE: elk and mulie sheds
I suggest get in the woods ;)as early as you can, to beat the rush, as shed hunting is getting to be a pretty poplar past time.
