RE: Best Elk Boot?
I put on my rubber boots when elk or any big game hunting for that matter. They are great for scent control but the will burn the back of your legs if you walk too long in them. Luckily i don't do a whole lot of walking in elk season i put on maybe 1 mile a day so they don't burn me too bad.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
I use the Cabelas Outfitter all leather Gore-Tex boot. I've had a pair for the last 4 years and they have been great. I'll be buying another pair when this pair wears out (which will be soon as I wear them nearly year round from Turkey hunting all through until the end of Elk season).

RE: Best Elk Boot?
I'm a fan of Danner Elk Hunters.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
Danner Pronghorns are a good tough boot.
Lightweight, 400gm thinsulate, goretex, good traction. They are comfortable as well and one of the few boots you can lace all the way up tightly without them hurting your ankles. |
RE: Best Elk Boot?
Can anyone give me any advise on Irish setter boots, are they a very good boot for elk hunting. I herd the bullseye bob soles are a very good choice.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
These guys know there boots. My suggestion is buy two pair especially when hunting in the snow. Your feet will sweat in just alittle bit of walking and they won't be dried out in one night in camp. Two pairs will let one dry while you can wear the other pair the next day. No frozen toes is the main key.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
I would have to agree the only boot to buy is a pair of Whites! I have the hiker and the smoke jumper. If you want a pair of boots that will last for years buy the best. My father got his first pair in 1973 and will never buy any other boot.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
I think Danners are a good choice and whites are a little on the heavy side for all day hunting. The best pair of boots are a well broke in pair.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
Besides my Danner Elk Hunters, I also purchased a pair of Cabelas trophy Series, lace to toe boots. They seem OK, but I like the Danners much better. the Cabelas will mainly be a backup.

RE: Best Elk Boot?
Danners are tough to beat. What ever you go with, make sure the boot breaths. A waterproof boot that doesn't allow your feet to breath will just trap moisture, once that starts to happen, it doesn't take long to really tear up your feet.
