Looking for help on nm elk hunt . looking to apply in only the big trophy areas. The hard to get drawed units Any help out there . thanks happy elk hunting. might book with an outfitter would like to known the best areas to try to get drawn frist

The biggest bulls are taken in Units 16, and 15. Go to www.wildlife.state.nm.us for more Quality (Q), High Demand (HD) hunts. Good luck.

Any of the units around Reserve or Quemado N.M. are good for big trophies. 16B will put you in the Wilderness and is hard to hunt without an outfitter. It has good elk although the outfitters tell me it's not as good as it use to be.

I hunt and live here in NM. Try area 34 or 36 for trophy bulls. Its hard to draw in but if you ever do , it is worth the time that you will wait fot the tag. A very good friend of mine does guid this area with great success. He lives in Glencoe NM and his name is Rick Simpson. It would be worth the call. He also sells guarenteed tags for that area. Real pack in guided fair chase hunts . Give it a try .
