Newfoundland offers low priced moose hunts but 50" moose are not at all common there. On the other hand they are very common in northern B.C. but the hunt prices are higher.

NYflyer, it may be cheaper as a Yankee to hunt Maine as opposed to Canada, I know an outfitter in N.C. that offers bear and moose hunts in Maine with lodging/meals, guided or self guided and if intrested, I highly recommend him, E-mail me and I'll cheque out the imfo. and let you know, Bobby ;)

Here's an Ontario moose a bit over 50 inches - check the rack in relation to the width of the truck box. I also have a pic of one my son shot a couple of years ago but it was quite a bit smaller, his was only 57 inches. But as Otis says over 50 they're few and far between. gg.

121553 I have been applying for years for a moose permit in Maine. 50" are very common in Maine, however you gotta pull a permit, wich isn't that common. Guys thanks for the input, I looked into Newfoundland and it is a strong possibility, but like you said 50" is a rare thing there. Considering that this will be my only shot at a moose I'm holdin out for a 50". Has anyone got the scoop on northern Alberta?

I live in northern alberta and can tell you that we do have 50" moose here but they are not that common. If you fly into the remote northern lakes the average size is larger but the numbers are not high so success rates are not high.As well costs increase due to the extra flights.I have hunted in northern B.C. and 50" bulls are very common.I saw bulls in the 50" range nearly every day but then again the costs are higher.

Hunts in this area have gone up since I was there and now average $5500 to $6000 in U.S. funds. There are often charter flights into camp that add about $500 to the hunt.Outfitters that offer nearly 100% success on large moose are:
scoop lake outfitters-250-491-1885
muskwa safaris-250789-9494
big nine outfitters-250-787-8431
christina falls outfitters-250-783-9455
canadian mountain outfitters-250-585-7837
stone mountain safaris-250-232-5469
