WHAT IS THE BEST30-06 REMINGTON BULLET FOR HOGS

I am going hog hunting for the first time and need some advice. I have a Remington model 700 30-06 that I plan to using and I want to know what type of Remington factory load ammo will the best to use? I am currently using the Express Core-Lokt Pointed Soft Point in 180 gr for deer hunting.

By specifying that it has to be remington factory ammo you limit yourself quite a bit. The 180 gr core-lokt should serve your purposes okay. Any factory 180 gr load should work. My preference would probably go towards the federal premium stuff with a nosler partition. I don't use factory stuff any more, it's all handloads, but if I did then remington ammo would be my last choice. It's the only brand I've ever had misfire. One particular box of 30-30 ammo failed to shoot half the rounds out of the box. For that reason I don't use remington primers in my handloads either.

I see no real reason to change your ammo from what you are using right now.If you wanted to you could try the Safari grade with the Swift A-frame.Hogs ar generally shot at reletively close range so you don't have to worry about long range trajectory as in deer hunting, therefor I would not hesitate to use heavy for caliber bullets.Hogs, especially big boars, are tenatious and potentially dangerous animals,so shot placement AND penetration is critical.

If you weren't stuck on Remington ammo, Federal makes a Premium hot factory load (called "High Energy") for 30-06 that will push a 180 grain Nosler Partition or 180 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw to 2880 fps muzzle, about what you'd get from 300 Win Magnum factory loads.

Full Metal Jacket or Armor Piercing for best penetration and destruction of their hard to damage bodies.

From Squirrel to Elephant, the Shotgun is your gun.

I use Trophy Bonded bear claws in 180 or Nosler partitions when shooting my 06 on hogs. I've got a buddy who uses 180gr Ballistic tips at 06 velocitiews they do an admirable job with good penetration and expansion they don't over expand st these modest velocities. I've some experience using military ball ammo and it wasn't good.
