Montana black bear

Today I just got an offer to join my friend and his family on a black bear hunt in Montana this spring. I need to know what tags/licenses/stamps I will need, and if you know the cost. I was going to apply for elk here in NV, but he told me that the tag for nonres black bear is only $120, an elk tag here is $115, so I think elk can wait a year since I will be going to Alaska in Sept. for caribou! Thanks in advance for the replies!

charlie brown I wish you good luck in Montana. Just a little heads up are fish and game department is requiring a bear identification test before you can get a tag.
Check it out on there web site.

I saw that, at the website, but you have to do it after Jan. 15th to be valid for 2002. They still don't have the tag and license prices posted, so if you could give me at least last year's prices, that would be great, as long as they're not expected to change from last year.

Hi charlie brown, last year they were $120 + $5 for a conservation license for a nonresident. I don't know if the price is going to stay the same this year or not.

Good Luck
