It must be a trick, I haven' t figured out how to post a picture yet. That' s some nice elk country, I like the way you stuffed grass in the elks mouth to keep his tongue in. I noticed it in your other post.

If that' s you in the photo, It appears you' re only about 40, for some reason I pictured a cantankerous old man. (grin). elknut1

Good pictures. I do not have the equipment to download a picture to post. Not sure if I could figure it out if I did?
I noticed one pack saddle was a sawbuck. Do you throw a diamond or double diamond when you pack meat? I have only used sawbucks a few times. I never have figured out how to throw a diamond hitch. Three friends of mine are from Wyoming, they always throw a diamond or double diamond.
I use deckers & box hitches for packing.

I ain' t throwed a diamond in..........well, I cain' t remember the las time I threw one. I throw a box hitch of some kind on everthin' . Ain' t ever had a load fall off with a box, an' you can do ' em yerself in ' bout a half-minute. No silly twistin' or holdin' the slack whilst you run ' round the other side or such. I' m 46, but my wife says I' m well perserved from all the bourbon I been drinkin' since I was knee-high to a tadpole.

Ok. Here' s how I went ' bout it.
First, I ain' t got one of them ' lectric cameras so I sent my film to Photoworks or Kodak an' got a diskette made. Don' t send ' em to York cause their disks won' t display without their own software. Then I uploaded the pictures to Imagestation.com. You gotta fiddle with albums an' such but onct you git the picturs in a album, they got a address thet you can copy in betwixt the [img] brackets on this site. Took me ' bout a year to git it figured out, but I reckin' it' ll be worth it when I kill thet big 7x7 next fall.

Here' s an' oldy but goody:

Nice bull BJ, Looks like you were the guide on that one. Thanks for the heads up on posting a photo, hope I can best your record of a year. By the way that' s one of the biggest wallows I' ve seen in that photo where you got your bull.
You know it' s one thing to have enough confidence to say you' ll get your bull next year, and another to say it' ll be a 7x7. That' s confidence.
You mentioned in a past post you were thinking of getting rid of your stock cause you were getting older, I don' t believe the old part for a second, but I do think all you need is a real challenge. Lets put that pea shooter away and commit to taking that 7x7 with a bow. I can tell by your past comments you' ve got the know how to bring a bull in now and then with calls, now that' s a real challenge. Are you up for it? I' ll go out on a limb and say I' ll take at least a 6point next season with my bow, how about you? Now this should get the ole blood running again, you don' t seem one to back down from a reasonable challenge. You can still pack it out with them mules, and I' ll pack mine out on my back. I' m 48 but I think I' ll still be able to handle it. If not maybe I can borrow them mules.(grin) elknut1

I admit I' ve considered goin' to a bow an' arrer. Hills are gettin' crowded an' I like a peaceful hunt. Don' t know if my shoulder is up to it though. Busted it at the rotater cup a couple years back, an' it bothers me still. What I git fer strappin' boards on my feet an' headin' down the side of a mountin. Cabin fever will make a man do all kinds of idiotic things. I' d have to use a recurve, no new fangled plastic wheels for me. Ok, I got a bug in my ear. I' ll start lookin' at bows this winter. We' ll see what happens. Or maybe I' ll jus' take my .54 to make it a lil' more innerestin' .

Cool!! I just figured it out!! I just scanned hard copy pics to my computer and then modified them a bit, and then uploaded them onto my reply. Here is a pic of an area that I went to this summer. There are elk and deer in the area, although all I saw were a doe and a nice 4 pt buck that was still in velvet and not done growing yet. This is in Northeastern Nevada.

P.S. nice bulls BJ and some pretty country!

RE: Learnt me a new trick

Go for the bow BJ, the minute you take that .54 out there is the time you' ll have that bull at 10 yds, you' ll kick yourself for not having the bow, besides that' s the challenge. I can relate to the shoulder problem, as I tore my rotator cup 2 yrs ago as well, was in a shoulder sling for 2 months, couldn' t dress myself either. It happened 4 months before bow season opened, I was bound and determined to hunt. I was one of those self therapy guys. I started slow with some exercises and kept increasing until I could pull 60lbs. I normally pull 74lbs. If you can do something similar and there' s just to much pain, take another shot of bourbon, that' ll loosen up the old muscles. If you can draw 55 to 60# you' ll do fine. Make sure you go with cut on contact broadheads and you' ll have good penetration out of your recurve. Watch out though, once you bowhunt you may not go back to rifle hunting, for the very reasons you mentioned. elknut1

Thanks for the photo posting info. Sorry about posting on your thread, guess I got excited that it worked and I forgot where I was at.

That Bull' s lair looks like a park. Awesome.
Don' t tell me they just stand out there in the open waiting to be shot.
Down this way they live on the side of cliffs by comparison.
