2023 Maine Moose draw
 

It's that time of the year, I put my wife and I in the draw today! I have 90 bonus points and the wife has 15 with only buying the one point. Each year I say, I hope that I draw this year. I'll try something different this year by not saying anything!! Good luck to all that apply!!

When you fill out the application, it shows how many bonus points you have, if you have any!

Good luck guys! I applied for our state permit again. The drawing is like a crap shoot. It’s something you just never know. My sister had one in 2019 and applied for 5 years. My wife had one in 20219 and applied for 15 years. It took me 30 years to get one in 2009.. I have seen some get them on their first year of applying.. Again good luck guys..

Nope on the moose tag. I've already drew an archery deer tag for SD, the rifle draw results for SD should be out this week. I hope to draw a rifle tag, having 2 tags in your pocket puts a smile on my face!

I've seen some great bucks riding the motorcycle in SD.

Would love to hunt there someday

Zone 4 Bull, first hunt.
Already made two scouting trips.

Good luck on your hunt.. The first hunt is easier to call them in on. Keep in mind that those bulls will have traveled quite aways by then. So look for where they had beaten the bushes last fall and hopefully you will connect..

The moose are moving good right now so best of luck to you..

How did your hunt go? That was a great week for calling.

I had a friend contact me last Monday on where to see a moose in zone 18. I told them where to go but they went by the road Tuesday morning. I told them that I would be going to camp on Tuesday and would meet up with them and explain where to go in our conversation earlier. Well I met up with them and explained where they missed the turn and got them down in there. I saw them later on Wednesday and they really like the place and had a few answers on their calling but they wouldn’t come in. The same thing on Thursday and I told them to keep at it. Come Friday morning at 7:30 they managed to get one. It only had one antler with 4 points on it. It tipped the scales at 708.5 pounds dressed. They were very happy that I got them in a good moose hunting area. I told them that I had other places but that I thought would be the easiest and less hunted area for them. They told me thank you and my knowledge of the area is most likely made all the difference for them.. While I wasn’t hunting them it surely was enjoyable to help them out and having them score a decent sized bull..

I'm continuously amazed at how huge these things are
