Turkey to kick everything off. Put in for Elk and Oryx in New Mexico and hoping that my name will be pulled out of the hat for one of em. I'll put in for the elusive elk and pronghorn tags here in OK as well but won't be holding my breath lol. Been putting in for those for 20+ years. As far as western big game I am a novice and hate going at it alone so I have been waiting in vein for friends to commit. I may just have to bite the bullet and start putting in by myself or save a bit up and start looking at outfitters.

Would really like to start some traveling for waterfowl. Hit the NE and NW coasts and down in South Texas.

Just finalized next three year plan. Cashing 25 Colorado elk points on a unit 61 archery hunt this year. Then will split my 8 WY elk points with a buddy for general elk tags there in 2023. Then in 2024 will cash 27 Utah deer points for the lone Paunsagunt archery tag. All these are about guaranteed to draw and will be my go to hunts. Anything else will be gravy. Lots of long shots.

I just put in for a the following in CO: Unit 2 for either sex elk, Unit 2 for buck deer, Unit 145 for buck pronghorn with unit 132 late season for doe pronghorn as a second choice. I will probably get the doe pronghorn since that hunt always has leftover tags. Here in TX I will put in for all the draw hunts for mule deer/javelina/exotics and a couple for doe and management bucks in a few state parks. I will hunt mule deer and whitetails on public land in TX and will hunt doe whitetail on managed land permits in the late season.

Struck out in the New Mexico draw (was expected, ha) but still on the Pop Management list. Maybe I'll get lucky and get pulled still yet!!

Nothing special for 2022. 2021 consisted of deer here at home base and speed goats in Wyoming, both were successful. I'm going to go with just deer and turkey for this year because in September of 2023 I'm headed to Zimbabwe for cape buff, croc and any plains game I can find.

I can not wait for that hunt.
