They are big animals and travel in groups so they leave behind plenty of sign. Get skilled in reading the land and concentrate on spots that have fresh elk sign.

Always watch for signs

Hi everyone, Another update. My friend got very busy with work. In fact, today may have been the last day I could hunt with him. However, he showed me a good spot and told me how to go about hunting it. Now that I know where to go and what to do, I can probably start hunting by myself until the season ends.
If I do get an elk, I’ve got some other friends who said they would come out and help me process it and pack it out. That’s all so far. Jared |
well again good luck and keep at it, hunting is a sport that many times, comes down to how hard you try and what your willing or not to do to be successful!
|
So far, no harvest. Tomorrow is the last day of the season. Right now, there’s a major blizzard going on. I’ll let you all know how tomorrow goes.
Again, if I don’t get an elk, that’s OK. At least I got some experience and I got to hunt. |

It’s official. No harvest. Turned in my tag and did my hunter report.

I know how you feel. I just finished reporting my bear season without success. You got to hunt elk though and most members didn't get to do that this year. With what you learned so far, now's the time to begin planning for next year. Best of luck.

Now that the season is over.... What did you learn for next year? Hope you had some fun in the process. -Jake |
Never heard of having to turn in an unfilled tsg.
|
By “turn in,” I meant a hunter report. Apologies for the confusion.
Anyway, what did I learn? Well, I learned how to call elk, I learned what their tracks look like, I learned that I have to be very sneaky and stealthy, and not make much noise, and to top it all off, I learned what it’s like not to get an elk. If it’s a learning experience, it’s not a waste, in my opinion. No matter what, I had fun. Jared |
Learn something every time you go.
