Montana Elk Opener
 



Nice bull and pretty country! It even looks like you could drive up close to the bull to get him out.

A lot of the time, you are correct, but there is still some country where you need to quarter them out, but by in large you can get pretty close to an animal. We have received around 20 inches of snow now in October, it is great moisture, but it made things tough this past weekend, weather service is calling for warming temp's all week into next, so now we will have gumbo to deal with, if it is not one thing, it is the other, I must be getting old, need something to complain about, LOL.

The only thing better than getting a truck close to a dead bull is having some big strapping young fellows with strong backs to help load it.

Big Uncle...bale beds, they are the best, young bucks are great, but hunting with a bale bed is my choice, LOL.

We received 30”+ of snow in southern Colorado last Sun night. Cancelled my elk hunt as I couldn’t get to the areas we hunt on the ranch. We did get two nice Mulies just before the storm hit.

Bull this afternoon, snow is almost gone, crazy weather.......Al was right....

Aw man..no way I would have shot that bull. Only 6 points on the left side! Just kidding of course. Beautiful and congratulations. I elk hunted Montana a couple times. Beautiful country. I enjoyed sitting out on a clear night and just admiring the stars. No wonder they call it big sky country.

and I love seeing snow on the ground next to a big game animal, just adds something to things for me!
so cool on that, plus snow can help at times dragging things if that was done!
