Florida county alligator tags
 

Anyone have any luck with gators with Citrus Country tags? Threw my name in the hat once for my last choice and got it. I've been successfully tagging out in Hernando, Polk and Sumpter counties for the last 8 years. Biggest to date was a 9' 7" from the Withlacoochee River. Been scouting for the last two weeks and have seen 40+ gators a night. With maybe 5 or so being over 6 foot, many more were questionable. I'm extremely experienced and very will equipped. Anyone who has any decent gators figured out in Citrus county are more than welcome to take along. We'll split it.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to get drawn anywhere in Florida. The stinking things are in every little crevasse that holds water. You would think that there would be more tags available. We could only seem to get drawn for Kissimmee River. We saw some really big ones but could never get close enough. They were always really spooky and we are relatively inexperienced so it really was more frustration than fun after a bit. We would ride and shine but the gators all went down way before we could get close enough to snag or shoot with a bow. We did luck into one monster that was nearly 11 ft. What's your way of making it happen?

In the last few years beef liver on a peg has had almost a 100% hook up. We use 50' of orange paracord to let us know we're in decent snatch hook distance. From experience, the ones that go down well before you can get in close, are usually pretty good size and smarter.
