Wyoming draw is supposed to be posted today.

Hoping to draw my first antelope tag

The results are available now. Did you draw? I was lucky this year.

Bocajnala 06-20-2019 08:36 AM

Yes sir! We drew our antelope tags.

There will be three of us going out from Ohio/Pennsylvania and one meeting us there from Colorado.

That is great news! Time to head to the shooting range.

Bocajnala 06-20-2019 08:43 AM

And start ordering/looking at maps!

My unit runs October 1st-15.

What works best for everybodys schedule is to be hunting October 7-12(Monday-Saturday)

Do you think going the second week is going to be alright?

I'm hoping that avoids crowds. But I don't want everything already to be shot off public land.

Unit 29 North of Douglas

Considering that there are less than 150 Type 1 tags, and of that number 114 were given to residents, I would bet that you will not have too much pressure on public land on the dates you have chosen. I believe that most residents only hunt the start of the season and on weekends, and most non-residents hunt the first week. Pronghorns are easily pushed onto private land when the season opens but they will start drifting back to their normal areas when the pressure is reduced. You may be hitting it just right.

Did you get a chance to look at point creep in the drawing odds yet? Even with all of your points it was not a "sure thing" this year.

Bocajnala 06-20-2019 03:55 PM

I've not had a chance yet.

Hunting as we know it is changing though. And the demand for license will continue to drive the price and applications higher and higher.

Thankful to be drawn this year and hope I can make the best of it

Congrats guys! I’m only getting preference points this year. Hope to hunt WY next year.

If it's anything like it was a few years ago, you'll be impressed with the big goats along the road on all the private soon as you head north out of Douglas. Tons of animals in that area last time I was there and certainly no problem filling tags. They were all but begging us to thin the doe herd.

Bob H in NH 06-25-2019 07:56 AM

Wife and I moved to WY in March, so still have to do non-resident tags, we decided it's an "all girl" season to learn how to do this on our own, no guides.

We each drew:
- 2 doe antelope
- 1 doe deer

Turning around now for cow elk

Congrats guys!
