Default The Maine moose permits were drawn

Yesterday the moose permits were drawn up here. I was not drawn but I have a sister that was. She said that I would be her sub- permit hunter. So as long as she is there either her or I can shoot it. So moose hunting this year is going to be happening in October. We can’t wait for the time to come where we can head out and try our luck! Has anybody on here apply for a moose tag? Non residents have a better chance than most of us once they start drawing them off. They were drawn after the state based on the amount of tags left out for them..

I hope so too Phil.

Is your sister a regular hunter or just applied for the opportunity?

My mom applies every year for a female only hunt in Ohio, but that's the only time she hunts.

If she gets drawn she can take a secondary that can harvest does. She doesn't care to hunt or shoot anything but enjoys a day in the woods.

My wife applies too, but she hunts regularly anyway.

also, how do you anticipate the hunt going? Do you have a place to go that has moose around?

My sister really doesn’t do a lot of hunting. She had hunted grouse a few times though. I have encouraged her to apply for the moose permit. I have for a few years now. They are very hard to get.
We have a great area to hunt in and I am hoping to have a great hunt with a quite a bit of calling. A friend of mine saw two moose crossing the road in the zone that we will be hunting in just yesterday. I have called in a quite a few moose before and I am hoping that they will come in when we hunt. October is a difficult month for calling them. But with the right call they will surely come in..

Thank you guys..
