Mt first Axis Buck
1 Attachment(s)
This is a picture of my first axis buck I shot last week in Texas. I ended up shooting a free range buck at 100 yards, heart shot. He only went a few yards. I also shot 2 Rio turkeys while in Texas. Had a great time, even with 2 days of 93 degrees and 50 mph wind gust.

Congrats on the Axis. Where did ya go? That is on my bucket list and always looking at options.
|
I hunted around Sonora, Texas.
|
It is kind of funny that I now live in TX but have never hunted an axis. They have some public draw hunts for them I need to put in for. Seems like I just go take a couple whitetail does every year for meat and never get around to the exotics.

Very nice Axis buck, in velvet too. Congrats. Way cool. They are fantastic table fare. Almost as good as Blackbuck! (shots fired)
|
They call Axis deer the fillet minion of venison. I hope to find out in the near future. I am not looking for the rack, I will probably take a nice doe, they are pretty big deer..

![]() Wow. Nice Buck! |
Very nice buck. They are better eating in Velvet too! (no testosterone).
My ranch is near Sonora and there are a LOT of free ranging axis in that area. You can see a big one on any ranch at any time. |
