Elk.....

.....bow kill caught on camera. I thought would be a good share because I would have probably died from adrenaline just sitting their watching this.

wow. congrats to him!
I don't believe I would have taken that shot at that angle, but it worked out for him so, kudos to a job well done.
that sucker bled out like a..... well like a stuck elk ,I guess.

That has been out on the internet for a few years and has received as many negative as positive comments regarding shot selection. The direct frontal shot can be very fatal, but this appeared to many to be a shot from the young man that was more luck than skill. The cameraman shooting the film was to his right where it would have been more of a frontal shot for him than from the angle that it appears the hunter was at. IMHO he was probably trying for a shot just behind the right front leg that would have then angled back through both lungs. I say that because you can see that the arrow came from the left of the cameraman, especially in the slow motion replay at the end. The arrow obviously hit the jugular and I believe I recall them saying it also hit the heart in a lengthier version of the video. In any event, the bull went down without taking a step after the shot and that is like no other elk that I've ever seen bleed out so fast in person or on videos. The end result was the young man had quite a trophy, regardless of whether he hit where he aimed or just got lucky!

I thought it looked familiar, but still a great event captured that hasn't gotten old yet watching it.

Not going to discuss shot placement because that is just spilled milk but what stood out for me was; what do you do while sitting there watching this. I don't think I would be able to move, like the elk I would have probably froze in place watching this unfold.
