Estimated Weight On This Bear?

Please give me your opinion on his weight, thank you

I don't know about the weight but a nice boar!!
|
Bears are really hard to judge except by true professional guides who have been doing it for many years. And not knowing the surroundings to compare him against (can't really tell if its a boar or not from these pics) like tree size etc. its even more difficult. Most people over estimate bear weight because of their really fluffy fur. But from the bear I've taken and looking at the size of his ears in relation to his head I'd estimate him to be about 200 lb. No more than 250 live weight.

Generally they look bigger then the actually are. I agree with Bronko, low 200s.
|
300 pounds live.

My bear guide, when it came to estimating wts, allways said "As big as you want".
It does look like a nice fat one....I would guess 250-300. Fall bears are allways a lot heavier than spring bears....fattening up. |
Ears don't look small and round like a cookie at least to me indicating a smaller bear. I would guess it is a small 200 pound male looking in great shape. Nice looking bear.
|
Hard to say. I'd guess 250
|
I estimate bear size by the front pad on there paw 6 inch across is big 400-500lb 3 inch is small one. Put a bucket of sand near the camera and measure the front pad width.

I say that is a young male, and about 200-250 lbs
very narrow a$$/hips on it foot prints can be helpful but after so many yrs here with bears I have seen some very small bears with HUGE feet I right now have what I think is a deformed male, been here since a cub off and on(was one of 4) and it seems to have a bone growth issue, like a Giant would have bones too big for its body has a hunched up back and super long legs, it has HUGE feet too very odd walk to it, walks like every leg is broken, yet is healthy (recently tagged Last fall by the state, but has since lost both ear tags too, one in May and other in July) if anyone remembers " Andre the giant, the wrestler" how he was sort of odd shaped that's this bear if he lives long enough to grow into that frame I think it will be HUGE but that is why I say, foot prints only tell PART of a story some times like all general rules, there are exceptions to them at times! |
