338 bullit cost?
I just paid $47 for a box of Federal Premium nosler partition 250' s.
just wondering what' s the going rate in your neighborhood?
This is the 1st box I bought since I bought the gun.
Now I know why that boy wanted to sell it so cheap.
Prolly couldn' t afford to shoot it.
It' s a far cry from $11 for a box of 30-06 165' s

Plus, you can use the 30-06 for the " fun gun" (lots of rounds) and use the 338 as the " get down to tough business" gun. If both rifles are fitted similarly and have the triggers worked similar (pull distance and weight), sighted in the same (say zero at 200 yards) then for all practical purposes it will be easy to " fly the bullets down the same string" with either one, especially under hunting conditions.

I looked at a box of Federal Premium High Energy .338 Win Mags loaded with 250 grain Woodleigh Weldcore bullets and they were under $30.00 a box.
I bought some Federal Premium 7mm STW loaded with 150 gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claws for $23.00 a box.

I am not sure what the 338-win mag ammo sells for?
The last box of 300-win mag Federal Premium 180-grain Nosler Partitions I looked at in WalMart were $26.00.
Look at your local WalMart or discount store, after season is over there should be a sale?

Cabella' s offers them for $35 as of 2001(my latest catalog)

EKM your right bout the 06. I' d have a hard time layin it down aftre all these years. specially since I have 4 of them.
Don' t know why I even bought the 338 for except it was for sell and to upset the " ol' lady"
maybe I' ll get out yall' s way and hunt the highlands someday.

RE: 338 bullit cost?
I " roll my own" in .338 and it' s saved money.........well, it' s let me shoot more. So far, I have loaded up .338' s in 225 Accu-bond (best performer and most accurate), 225 Nosler Partitions, and .225 x-bullets from Barnes. I think they would come out to about 1/3-1/4 the price of " off the shelf" Accuracy was much better as well!
