Gearing Up?

What do you need to add/replenish gear/ammo wise to help make your season successful this year.

Still need a replace a pair of snake proof boots, some conicals for an ML, a rangefinder and some ammo.

I think I need to stock up on a new rabbit's foot. The one I used last year didn't bring me good luck!

Seriously, though, I think all my gear is in good shape. I'm pretty well set for gear after hunting elk for 10 years in the same place, same season. My boot soles are getting thinner, but I think they are good for this season. I hope my truck tires are good for another season but will evaluate that later in the year.

I need some new freezer bags for my vacuum packer. All the old ones are full of venison!

Get my wife and her new rifle to the range
Get airline tickets to WY
Get hotel reservations in WY (staying longer than the hunt itself)
Draw the WY tags (should be all set come June)

For local, all set (above list will cover local needs as well), well actually have to practice and figure out my new climbing treestand I bought to replace the hang on one some jerk stole.

Range time, meat grinder, and some more ammo wouldn't hurt.

I need some patience because too many months till fall. I did some scope swapping so extra range time is on the list, need to reload some ammo, and got a crossbow that needs a new string. Indiana has allowed high powered rifles for deer hunting so I'm taking that in consideration. I got invited to western South Dakota to hunt on private property and also got an invite to hunt northern Wisconsin and stay at a relatives cabin. I need to plan some dates and some time off work.

I don't know how it's called in English, but in Dutch we say 'hulzenvanger', Sleeves catcher? I always use one of these because else it's way to much work ;-)

I need some kind of meat grinder picture.

Two new tires for my Suburban, which is my hunting truck. I got two new tires before Christmas. The tread on the remaining two is getting worn down and I get nervous thinking of driving over the nasty, rocky road up to elk camp. That thick tread provides some insurance a rock isn't going to cut my tire. This may be irrelevant to sideways cuts, but at least it is protection in the direction of main hazards.

If I don't lose about 10 pounds pretty quick I may need to get a new pair of hunting pants! I have been working out and am strong . . . but I still have 10 pounds I want to shed. And that excess weight reposes right around my waist where my pants fasten!
