Mule Deer hunt
 

Hello All,
It's been quite a while since I was here so no doubt nobody remembers me. Looking for some direction here on a guided mule deer hunt. We have a group of 4 guys looking for a hunt in 2015 or 2016. Where would you point us to have access to tags and if possible an outfitter you would recommend. We are pretty seasoned big game guys from Ontario and have hunted caribou several times ( might even still have my posts archived here on Quebec winter hunts ) moose bear and pronghorns. A half decent muley is on my bucket list so that is the next quest. I realize the "good old days" of mule deer hunting are history now but there has to be some place we can head to?

Good luck with that as if you don't have a few PPs in most states you don't have much of a chance at a good hunt without seeing a ton of orange. There are Regions in Wyoming that you can draw a tag with no PPs if you check out the draw odds on the G&F website, but you will be fighting a crowd on public land just about anywhere any more.

You might want to check out southern Alberta. I took a 193 gross B&C typical mulie there in October. But the outfitter is booked a number of years out.

Alberta is a good bet for decent mule deer, but you need to go with an outfitter to get tags.

I will do that. Staying in Canada has definite logistics advantages for us and we are expecting to use an outfitter anyway. Too much distance to go in blind in only a week's hunting I think.

Guided or semiguided private land hunts somewhere like Colorado might fit your bill.

You might want to check out this website: http://www.monstermuleys.com/ They only have one Alberta outfitter listed, but his website sounds promising. I can't vouch one way or the other for him, but he is probably worth checking out.
