pardon the ingnorance, but what are the deer that are not elk.

I've got 16 NR elk points and should eventually draw Mt. Emily or Walla Walla.

Mule Deer (mulies, as we call them over here)! They are in a number of the western states from about Nebraska and the Dakotas on west. Whitetail deer are from the Dakotas/Nebraska plains area on east to our east coast.

i can think of alot of other units i wood hunt besides those 2,they are highly overrated

Really????? They are some of the best units for elk in Oregon. Not saying they even compare to other western states but it is about as good as we got if you leave out Mill Cr. Watershed. Wenaha is about out of the question for a NR.
