Winter Mountain Lion, pic
1 Attachment(s)
Guide sent this pic in this morning. They are out there having a ball chasin cat across the mountains. We are going to offer lion hunts in 2014-2015 season, so he is out working the hounds, scouting and having fun. Practice season before we start taking paying clients next year. A man can nearly hunt year round out west! I do love Montana.

Never ate any myself. |
That kitty would like to get the dog 1 on 1! Admire the cats and good hunt'in dogs, but you can't hunt 'em here in California. The wildlife is all out of kelter here in the state of fruits and flakes. May Montana have a healthy balance of predator and prey, figure mankind as part of the predator count, and many great hunts to ya'll.
Hey, do those dogs get after Bobcat if they run across one? Never heard of hunting Bob's with dogs. |
So what are the legalities around taking the meat of a lion?
|
just very interested is all

I'm betting if you chunked the tail into small pieces and prepared it like oxtail that would be good too. I've never shot one personally but it is on my bucket list. |
An old cat hunter gave me a tip about eating cougar. He said to leave the cat treed for a while to let it sort of calm down after the chase. Then vaporize it's head with a rifle shot to kill it instantly. He claimed the meat tasted better after doing it that way as opposed to the old method of shooting a treed cat in the lungs with a 22 mag and letting it fill up with blood and falling out of the tree a few minutes later.
I can't vouch for any of that info personally. I won't eat cat. |
