Hunting Black Tail Deer Advise Needed
 

Headed to friend's property in NW California to hunt black tail. Will be my first time hunting these. From what he tells me we will be still hunting, with some spot and stalk. I have done a bit of spot and stalk hunting (mule deer). I have not done much still hunting in years. Have good glass. Plan to use bolt action 308 Win. Maybe 6.5x55 SE.

Any tips on black tail habits or advice certainly welcomed.

habits are the same as mule deer, glass, glass, glass, they love to hide in the rocks and will stay until forced out! I hunted in the foothills just north of Sacramento last year with good success, watch the bottoms and drainage, they really use them, good luck!
