Knife hunting dangerous game?

Anyone ever attempted to just go toe to toe with a wolf, bear, or cat using only a knife or perhaps a spear?

I am a blacksmith and can fashion my own blade for such a hunt. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried and perhaps they can give me their experience.

I intend on doing this soon in the future, and I'll make a post before I go out, lol, that way if you never hear back from me you'll know it's because I lost the fight.

No doubt you'll lose the fight with the cat. Slim chance with the bear. You might have a chance with the wolf if his friends don't show up.

When you do tape it. A lot of people will want to see it whether you win or lose!!! if your going to be dumb you better be tough.

Maybe he should start out trying it with a rabbit. :D

Don't know if this is serious or not. I don't know if you can get a cat to fight you, it has to be willing to fight. You can't just throw down your glove and call a duel. Bears on the other hand well they might take you up on your challenge.

He asked the same question about hunting rabbits in the "small game" section. I find it hard to believe he is serious.

I hope he is, and tries the cat, bear, or wolf.

My dog can barely catch a rabbit. A bear would be more helpful in getting close. Hope he has a friend with a camera.

I tangled with a grey squirrel once when I was a kid - ooh they can bite!

Saw a guy a few months back on the Sportsmen channel take a chinese water buffalo with a spear on a spot and stalk. He had a camera on the spear and got the buff!!!! Thats one BA if you ask me. Beats my taking wild hogs with a knife!!

Nope not stupid.

Make sure you wear something like this: Solvid Head Camera Mount

I would love to see it. I watched some dude from Australia catch a red deer with his hand on Youtube; it was pretty intense.

I prefer hand to paw combat.

Always had fantasies about fighting a bear hand to hand until a wounded one got up three feet from me. That non sense ended real fast. Lets just say I was more than relieved the bear wanted no more part of me than I wanted being standing right there at that moment. We both went in opposite directions so fast the rest of the story is a blur. You may be tough or feel like you can tackle the world but one thing is for sure you'll never know how your going to react until it happens. And trust me it happens faster than you can have time to think.

We've been had. This clown hasn't been back to the forum since making this thread.

He's (?) probably some tree hugger.

Or he "tried" to knife fight a bear.

I wrestled a Bengal tiger once.... no seriously I really did.

A little cub?

Cub... Kinda. It was a 6 month old Bengal named Kahn. He was 250lbs at the time. I was eight years old. :) The handler said it was okay if I petted him, (he was on a leash), so I went to pet him and he grabbed me and rolled on top of me. Every time I wiggled away he would grab me and roll around, stopping occasionally to lick my head. The crowd and my family thought it was hilarious, and so did I at the time. It didn't sink in until years later that one bite could have taken my head off.

I actually kept in touch with Kahn because he would often show up at different shows and shelters. I found out later that the owner went through a bad divorce and rather than lose the tiger to his wife he put a bullet in Kahn's head. Thankfully he was atleast sent to jail for the offense., :nonono2:

So I can actually tell people I wrestled a Bengal Tiger. :D

Yes, but it sounded like he won. :)

Ok I think its time this thread is closed. We could go on and on about this thread. Stay safe hunting all and remember our hunting ethics. :)
