Colorado is probably the number one state for landowner tags, but I don't know how many acres you have to have to qualify.

You get a voucher for every 160 acres.

Thanks Pete! I think Wyoming also has a 160 acre requirement.

Actually, I think the you must have a minimum of 160 acres to register in the landowner program, but don't believe you get one voucher for each 160 acres. Not even guaranteed that you will get one voucher, but you are in the pool they draw the alloted private vouchers from.:

One of my best friends is a landowner. He gets 5 vouchers. I've seen them, and talked to the other hunters he gives them to besides me. He gets them every year.

How many acres does he have? I also have some friends with two ranches. One is 280 acres, the other 1900 acres. They get two deer tags (bucks) for each ranch for each season they apply to each year excluding the 4th rifle. They have been applying for 4th season tags every year and have never drawn. The ranches are in an OTC elk area. I think it depends on what unit and how many people put in for them for each season.
So I guess you could say they get 10 tags per ranch per year (archery, muzzleloading, and 3 rifle seasons), but the size of the ranch doesn't affect how many they draw in their particular case. |
Not sure how much he has. It's quite a bit. Not just land, but the Arkansas River runs through it, so I get private water to fly fish too.
