Enough Gun Advice - Thanks!

For what it is worth, between now and fall of 2014, besides pushing this old body as much as it can stand getting in top shape .... I will be shooting the 338 Win. Mag. as much as I have a chance to in order to become comfortable with the how this rifle handles, its triggers and how the scope comes to my eye. I will decide when the time comes.

Not to sound defensive, but .... you will never find me "up gunning" as some sort of a so called "crutch". For sure I have always, and forevermore shall, put a premium on placing the shot and on closing the distance.

As far as bad angles, I have hunted enough to know for a fact that the text book broad side, standing dead still, level ground, 100% "in the clear" shot does exist, but it is not typical of what I have experienced. In any case if I am uncomfortable with any part of being able to make a clean kill, I pass .... magnum or no magnum ... even if I should come across an elk of a lifetime.

A good way to practice with magnums at the range is to have your buddy load the gun so you don't know if a live round is loaded or not.

It will show up any flinch you have. If you can shoot it with no flinch. You're good to go. :happy0001:
