Colorado unit 74 archery?

Has anyone ever hunted this unit before for deer? looking at possibly applying for the unit pretty good success rates considering you could get drawn almost every year. Google earth shows some pretty good looking high country on the north end of the unit.

Not quite a sure thing every year. Out of 73 tags. 108 applied as a 1st choice.

Theirs a few post around the web saying theirs some nice bucks up there early season but everyone has there own definition of nice. huntin fool says "Good hunt with 170-180+ bucks. public land, great hunt." but usually by the time units get published in magazines the good hunting's done and over with.

"Good hunt with 170-180+ bucks. public land, great hunt."

That can be said of most any of Colorados units. The nice thing and bad thing is that if a unit becomes popular is they sell the same number of deer tags either way, so it is not like you will see more hunters. The bad thing is that the odds go down for drawing that tag.

But to more directly answer your question. The southwest corner of the state lost a bunch of deer a couple of winters ago and have not fully recovered. So there are some big ones there, but numbers are down. In most units they have lowered the tags as well.
