Ky Elk
Took this 6x6 in Kentucky on 10/14/2012.
Had to butcher him in the field and hike him out a mile in the dark and rain. Most fun hunt of my life!!!! |

Yup... they are down in the southeastern part of the state. They reintroduced them back in '97 and have a lottery system in place to hunt them. I was lucky enough to finally get drawn this year after putting in for the last 7 years.

Congrats on drawing a tag and harvesting a nice elk!! I've been putting in for over 5 years myself so far. Did you get help in Ky or DIY?

They weren't kidding. We saw about 10-15 different bulls that i could have taken, and this was the biggest one of them all. I'm sure i could have paid 1500$ to shoot a bull quicker and not have to do any of the work, and he might have been bigger, but then what fun would that be. I'd rather have a great story to share with friends than have someone have everything set up for me. That hunt was the most fun weekend of my life!!! |
