Black bear hunting with a .30-30?

Bear season is around the corner. This will be my first time hunting bear, more specifically, black bear. Do you guys think a .30-30 will suffice? I know it's a favored deer round but I am wondering if I should invest in a .308?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Don't buy another gun use the 30.30. Black bears are not that tough especially with one placed through the ribcage.

The .30-30 will work great.

The one, and only, bear I shot was with a .32 special (30-30 clone) Winchester in Canada several years ago at 15 feet. DRT. It never twitched. If I went again, I'd use the same rifle. Light and handy in a tree stand.

I've shot over a dozen bears with my 30-30 Win.I've also shot 3 moose with it so far.Know your gun,get them in range, and good shot placement.

Bear hunting is a good excuse to buy a more powerful rifle. Good luck.

30-30 is fine. Just place the shot where it needs to be and It will preform well.

Make a prudent shot and you will be fine.
