What State would you want this fall?

Would this influence your choice at all? Droughts, Wild Fires, |
Haha! Guess I picked a good year to draw New Hampshire and Iowa! Used to going a bit further west.

i hunt the top end of a creek. Even with the little rain we had last summer there was plenty of water and feed for the animals. Only part of being so dry is the fire danger.
|
Colorado. Up high where the elk are there's plenty of water, and as green as can be.

Out in the flat dry desert of washington

Deer generally aren't too dependent on standing water, relative to other critters. Elk are more dependent, but they will find the water where it is. As stated, in the high country, drought isn't so much a factor. There will be spots with snow melt well into the late summer and sometimes fall. There is moisture in the ground and seeps and springs are abundant even in dry years.

Took this 2 days ago. Check out the moose.

I wonder if drought years would actually concentrate game in smaller areas? although I think that may limit food for all but also more hunters in 1 area? who knows?
|
Not in Colorado. We have tons of land that can be hunted with good food and water.
