Default Experienced Backcountry People: Handgun Protection Opinion/Feedback

Not too long ago I started a thread on the effectiveness of using a short-barreled .454 Casull with a 340 grain, .34 meplat, at 1,100 FPS. Well, I ended up with a different mold. 20 grains heavier with a meplat .03 wider.

If you are out hiking, fishing, camping, etc., don't want to or can't carry a heavy longgun....

QUESTION:

Would you be willing to use this load for backcountry/big animal defense:

.454 caliber
360 grain, hardcast bullet
.37 meplat
1,000-1,050 FPS

I am keeping to this velocity with this bullet because I can manage the recoil from my Ruger SRH Alaskan and get it back on target in an ok time.

Thank you
