Packs

What do you use for a day pack? Do you prefer a backpack or a fannypack? How many cubic inches ? Any special features on the pack you prefer ?
I'd like to hear your opinions......Thanks.

I think back to my 1st hunt out west, drove out there without any pack, friend with me was like you guys need a pack, we had the fanny pack and got by, no clue how? cause nowadays It's always a backpack, and never enough room...

when you hunt all day out, hiking etc... you need clothes, food, water, I need a bigger pack, not sure how many cu in.

but def a backpack over a fannypack nowadays.

I used to hunt with a fanny pack as I overheated with a back pack. Now I use both the Badlands Hypervent and Sacrifice, that allow for breathing across the back keeping me cooler, but allowing for better distribution of weight. I also hunt in a bone out and pack area so like a pack big enough to allow me to pack a good load of meat out when I have an animal down.

I probably carry more than most in a day hunt than most.

Remember; your day pack could turn into a night pack, in a blink of an eye !!!

What are you going to be hunting? What do you want the pack to be able to do? Would you go back far enough into the woods and have to pack out an animal?

Some great day packs, IMO would be:

Badlands 2200
Badlands 2800
Eberlestock J104
Camelbak Commander

i use both
depending on the hike/weather
prefer fanny pack style
but can fit more in a backpack
as for fanny pack i have one where various attachments clip on,
can bring 1 water bottle or 2
can swap small pack for a larger hanging pack etc..
quite versatile and use different configurations often
