What a hunt!

3 Antelope in 3 days, 2 bucks, 1 horned doe with matching 3" spikes.
DIY public land. Rough score estimates are 83" (with only 13" long horns) for the 1st buck and 80" for the 2nd buck(15" horns). |
very nice, congrats....

thanks.
1st buck was about 250yds, 85gr TSX, 1st shot would've done the job, he didn't go anywhere but stayed standing, put a 2nd in him that dropped him. 2nd buck, fun lil story, put a good stalk on him, couldn't close the distance after a while, decided to head back to the truck and try to get in front of him, when in the rear view mirror we seem him run by and stop at 185yds, right as we were having a drink/snack, we hop out, he runs off, we put an angled walk/stalk on him, narrow the distance to about 285-300yds probably. Used some 95gr ballistic tips. |
Sounds like an AWESOME 3 days. Congrats!

Wow real nice goat. What state were you hunting in? Congrats!
|
Very nicely done. Where were you hunting ?
Our CO season opens next weekend and I have four guys to take out all with buck licenses. |
Nice bucks. There sure were a ton being dropped off at the butcher when I was dropping my elk off last Saturday in Casper.

Wyoming.
Part of me wants to go back next year for more antelope(an even bigger one!), and part of me thinks, antelope down, check, time for a muley and/or elk hunt, next year maybe? Plus one of these years I'll probably make my way out to NM or NV for an antelope. Saw a beautiful full mount mtn.goat while out there, tried drawing a tag this year, no luck, maybe next year, but wow those are a beautiful animal. |
that's a beauty of a buck, man. i'm going this weekend here in colorado. This'll be my first time hunting ANYTHING for 13 years- any knowledge to pass on to a rookie?
will post picks if we're successful |

will post picks if we're successful and of course as eastmans' say....look for Mass, then look for mass, and finally look for mass! ha. mass and diggers make for big bucks/scores I think. and the most massive the shorter the horns may look, but make sure you're not shooting a short horned buck either, look for that twice the ears length horns, plus some mass, and you probably will be good. thanks. |
