Colorado GMU 12 Elk
 

Hey all. Me and my dad hunted gmu 21/22 last year and are trying GMU 12 this year (2nd season cow). Both of us live out of state and scouting ahead of time (other than a day or two before) isn't really an option. Not looking for where everyone is going to be hunting, but would love some advice for public land camp options/advice/recommendations. Have all the BLM and other maps, just not sure of the area and where would be a good place to focus on setting up camp for the hiking into the backcountry. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

i hunted the south side of 12 for a couple of years 2 and 3 years ago. shot a really nice cow there in 09. i don't know what part of the unit you are going to hunt but where we were there was piles of hunters. we are actually moving back south to where we started elk hunting becuase of the crowds. let me know where you are planning on going in, maybe i can point you towards something.
