Please indicate your level of support for the following statements. Strongly Support Support Not Sure Oppose Strongly Oppose Wolves should be managed to reduce conflicts with livestock and pets Wolves should be managed to reduce unacceptable impacts to deer, elk, or moose populations. Wolves should be managed to reduce threats to public safety Wolves should be managed to ensure a self-sustaining population in Idaho Wolf management should remain a state management responsibility Section B: Details of Proposed Season: Fish and Game proposes a standard hunting season from August 30, 2011 through March 31, 2012 in areas where the management goal is to reduce the wolf population to address problems with livestock, humans, deer, elk or moose. In areas where the management goal is to ensure wolves continue to move between Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, the proposed season is from August 30, 2011 through December 31, 2011. Fish and Game proposes harvest limits in areas where hunting could result in too many wolves taken. 2. Please indicate how you feel about having a standard wolf hunting season of August 30 through March 31. Season is too long Season is about right Season is too short 3. Some wolf management zones should have shorter seasons to ensure Idaho wolves remain connected to populations in Montana and Wyoming Some wolf management zones should have harvest limits to protect against over-harvest Hunters should be able to purchase only 1 tag Hunters should be able to purchase 2 tags Hunters should be able to purchase more than 2 tags A trapping season is also proposed in portions of some wolf management zones in Northern and North-Central Idaho, where previous experience indicates hunting alone will be insufficient to meet management goals. The proposed wolf trapping season will be December 1, 2011 to February 15, 2012 when pelts are prime and conflicts with other hunting seasons are reduced. Completion of a mandatory class on wolf trapping is required before a licensed trapper can purchase wolf tags. Licensed trappers will be able to purchase up to 3 additional tags for trapping wolves in those units with a wolf trapping season. 4.
