Default Best factory .308 cartridge for antelope

Please give me your thoughts about what factory produced .308 cartridge is best for Wyoming antelope hunting.

150gr bullet? something soft, nothing fancy needed, a standard deer round should work.

I would agree with the above commenter that the 150 grains would be a good choice because the will shoot a bit flatter and will hold sufficient energy out at 300+ yards, but don't overlook the 168 grain loads.

Where will you be hunting out in Wyoming? If you're hitting up the eastern plains you might want something a bit heavier than 150 grains to deal with the wind. If you're going to be hunting north or west of Rock Springs then the 150's will be just fine. Regarless of the grain, the Winchester BST's are my personal favorites. Have fun and thin out those herds!

I've used 150 grain Federal, Remington & Winchester out of my 30/06. Standard loads from Wal-mart. Don't see why a 308 woulld be any different. Get the one that your rifle likes the best & have fun out there in WY. Just don't shoot the 1st one you see. Antelope hunting is just plain FUN. CB

Try the new Winchester Power Max in 150 grain. About $20 at Wal-Mart. If you hand load, you can't beat the Nosler Ballistic Tip in 150 grains.

If I were looking for an antelope specific load I'd look first at Hornady TAP 110 grain or Hornady superformance 150 grain SST.
