For me, hands down, mountain sheep: Dalls, Stone, and bighorn; followed closely by cape buffalo.

Elk.

I have done a fair amount of deer hunting and enjoyed it, but now I'm hooked on elk hunting and may never go deer hunting again. It is really special to camp out in the mountains at about 11000' and go after such a stately, large animal in its huge home base. I love it.

Elk hunting is my favorite. Packing them out, now that is a different story. The fun stops when you get up to the animal and the realization sets in that you now have to carry that huge thing on your back and make several trips doing so. But in the end it is worth it even though I have never shot one I could call a trophy.

The reason I like elk the best is because of the beautiful country where they live, the cool crisp air at altitude, and getting close to a bugling bull just sends chills down the spine.
And being a Colo. resident, DIY is the only way to fly.

For me, mule deer hunting is so much fun it would be my favorite with elk a very close second. Third would be Woodland caribou.

DIY in Wyoming. I love getting close as well. Archery hunting in September and the Aspens are starting to change to beautiful colors. Can't beat it.
